The Infinity’s Q50 model was first presented in 2013. The unveiling of this new compact sedan from Nissan’s luxury brand, made quite an echo on the market. With the taste of victory with the Q50 model, Nissan plans to present a new model as 2016 Infiniti Q50 that will come with various upgrades and improvements. It will be available in the U.S, Canada, UK and Australia.
The current model is based on the 2009 Essence concept, and the expectations are that the new version will continue that story. Even though the variety of changes is expected, none of them should be big. So there will definitely be no departure from the current style, and it will come with a standard mid-cycle refresh. The familiar demilune-cut C-pillar, deep body section, asymmetrical interior layout, 3D double-arch grille will come unchanged. The most notable changes will be applied on the front where this car will get slightly redesigned grille and headlights, as well as bumpers and backlights.
As a result of these changes we are getting one slightly more elegant vehicle that brings high level of refinement in combination with aggressive looks. With larger wheels and strong side line it is one of the nicest models and while you are looking it you have the feeling of constant movement even when standing. We are also getting coupe model of 2016 Infiniti Q50 to better fulfill the lineup and bring it closer to larger number of buyers.
2016 Infiniti Q50 Changes
As far as the interior goes, it will be made of high quality materials. The inside will come equipped with elegant door handles, comfortable seats and other features. The instrument panel will have a double wave look, while the air vents will be placed vertically. The center console will have the Infiniti In Touch screens, with the upper screen designed to navigate, manage back cameras and parking, and the lower screen planed for accessing the Internet, control of the car settings and the operation of the gearbox and engine.
The multi-functional steering wheel will be equipped with phone control buttons, on-board computer and a variety of other functions. The front seats will have a high profile with lateral support, as well as adjustments, heating and ventilation. As far as the second row goes, it will easily accommodate 3 passengers, and even leave some free space. The interior colors will be offered in 3 versions: light-dark, light wheat, and graphite. Furthermore, this vehicle comes with a big trunk with a volume of 510 l, while the hybrid version comes with 410 l, due to the batteries that are placed in the Luggage compartment under the floor.
Many potential buyers were charmed with Eau Rouge concept when it was officially unveiled and it is clear that new Q50 brings many similarities with it. What we could hear for more than a few people is that it would be great if Infiniti would offer even more aggressive version of Q50 that would be closer to the Eau Rouge concept. This is especially related to the 3.8 liter V6 engine that was enriched with twin turbo system and was capable of producing about 560 hp.
When it comes to the engine lineup no changes are expected. The base model will come with a 3.7 l V6 engine, which will be capable of pumping out 328 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The diesel engine option will be offered as well. It will be a 2.2 l turbocharged engine with the ability of delivering 208 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque but this version most likely will not be available on the U.S. market. Just like the current model, the new Q50 will also be offered as a hybrid model. The combination will remain the same, the 3.5 l V6 petrol engine and an electric motor, with total power output of 360 hp and over 400 lb-ft of max torque. All the models will be paired with either a 7-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.
The release of the new model is expected somewhere in the first half of the 2016 while the official introduction should be done during fall of this year. As far as the price of the 2016 Infiniti Q50 is concerned, it is estimated to be offered with a price of above $37,000 for the base RWD model. Those that want higher trim models need to know that price goes up to above $45,000.
