When we take a look at the numbers on the U.S. car market it is more than clear that compact SUV’s segment is one of those that are raising. As a result we are getting models like 2016 GMC Terrain that are delivered with improvements and nice changes so that those would stay competitive and as one of the top offers.
About 15.7 percent of total sales on U.S. market are related to compact SUV’s and in 2014th Terrain had 105,016 sales which was the best sale year for it. We think that with many changes and delivery of upgraded model, this vehicle will be able to return even better results. Popularity of this and similar models lay in the fact that there are people that need larger vehicles that can transport more luggage, have decent off-road capabilities and can tow loads when needed.
Both Denali and standard Terrain models were showed off at the 2015 New York International Auto Show and we have pretty much complete list of those upgrades. Power dome hood is combined with more aggressive yet refined front end that brings redesigned bumper, headlights and chrome rich grille that offers unique tri-segment texture for Denali models. Higher trim models will be equipped with new LED daytime running lights while at the back well designed tail lights are nicely fitted in tailgate that again comes with many chrome details.
When the features list is offered for the 2016 GMC Terrain it is more than amazing what we are getting and at what price. Do not expect top level luxury and comfort but we are more than sure that this will be enough for most drivers. Entry level trims will get cloth seats while on higher trim models there will be perforated leather giving you that exquisite feel. Center console has been upgraded with better controls and new shelf where you can store more items and the display in center console comes with all the necessary features to get all details.
As a base engine we are getting tested and proven 2.4 liter inline four cylinder unit that is capable of pumping out 187 hp at 6700 rpm and 172 lb-ft of torque at 4900 rpm. This engine is equipped with direct injection and variable valve timing technology that offers both great power and efficiency. Power goes through six speed automatic transmission and when chosen in front wheel drive version it can return 22/32 mpg city/highway. More powerful option for the 2016 Terrain is the 3.6 liter V6 unit that delivers respectable 301 hp at 6500 rpm and 272 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm. Much better performances come with a fuel economy penalty and while this vehicle can reach 60 mph in about 6.7 seconds you can expect it to return 17/24 mpg with front wheel drive and 16/23 mpg with AWD system.
2016 GMC Terrain Price
We have already mentioned that it is amazing what we are getting here at the price of only slightly above $24,000 what you need to pay for SL model. First version that is available with all-wheel drive is the SLE-1 that is priced at $28,310 and you need to pay $1,750 extra over standard SLE-1 model. Top of the line Denali trim is delivered with price tag of slightly above $37,000 and this one includes all-wheel drive and all the features that you need.
