2016 Chevrolet Tahoe Release Date And Changes

The current model of the Tahoe is a full size SUV which has been launched at the end of 2014 and it is going to receive a smaller facelift with the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe which is going to add a few new things to the range as well as a slightly different chassis. Chevy needs to offer even small upgrades to their lineup to make it more competitive and more interesting.

Unfortunately, this SUV will continue to be offered as a full steel body on frame construction which is perfectly fine for a full size SUV which is mostly used off-road. However, the Tahoe is far from that with a soft independent suspension in the front, a live rear axle which is now going to receive new shocks and springs that should make it a bit more comfortable on the road as well as different engine mounts which are said to reduce vibrations to a bare minimum. This way upgrades to this SUV will solve few problems of the previous generation.

Price

The release date for this small facelift is set for fall of 2015 or the late 2015 while the SUV should be ready for sale by the end of this year. The base price will not change from the current model so expect the same base price of $46,300 while the higher end versions should fetch around $64,000, a lot less than some of its competitors such as the Land Cruiser but it is a good question if it does offer similar features like Land Cruiser.

2016 Chevrolet Tahoe Release Date

Let’s start with the interior of the upcoming model because this is going to change the most. The dashboard as well as most of the equipment should be new with a new design as well as more functions integrated into the car. The MyLink infotainment system should now be available across the board and a new subscription for a satellite radio based service should become available. The materials will be just as good as before with only soft touch materials used on the inside of the car and as a bonus even the most basic model will now receive a full leather upholstery.

The exterior on the other hand should remain identical to the current model and that’s only natural considering how new it is. The front end will be available with LED daytime running lights as standard while the higher end trims will get a biXenon system which will greatly improve nighttime driving. The 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe model year should also introduce a new off-road based package that will add new wheels and tires, a slightly higher ground clearance as well as chromed running boards that should protect the body from scratches.

Specs

Engine wise, the same two old engines are still going to be offered with the new Tahoe but we might see some improvements after all. The base will remain the current 5.3 V8 while the higher end version will stick with the 6.2 liter V8. Both of these engines should be more than capable of towing at least 7000 pounds and both of them should offer around 19 MPG on average. Just like before only available transmission is going to be a 6 speed automatic that will send power to either rear or all four wheels. Shortly after official release this SUV could receive a new 9 or 10 speed gearbox which could improve the response of its engines and even allow it to deliver better fuel efficiency without sacrificing any performance.

Changes

The surprise in engine lineup could be a newly developed 3.6 liter twin-turbocharged V6 which could be the replacement for the bigger V8 units. This might provide as much as 450 horsepower and more than 450 lb-ft of torque all while offering much better fuel economy than the two older engines. The only drawback here is that this engine could increase the price of the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe by quite a big margin. This is still only a rumor so we will have to wait little bit longer to see if it will come with this engine in the lineup.
