Over last couple years the Fusion managed to further improve making the 2015 Ford Fusion even more attractive for potential buyers. It is offered in standard gasoline version but also as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicle that allow drivers to lower fuel consumption.
Since the recent redesign we are getting only small changes for both 2014th and 2015th model. Introduction of new 1.5 liter inline four cylinder EcoBoost engine comes as a biggest difference for new model plus we are getting slight modifications on the equipment list that now comes standard. These changes will allow it to further improve sale results and attract more buyers to the brand. Even fuel economy will remain on the same level with new engine it is good change and we will see it further developed.
One of the biggest advantages that this vehicle offers is the fact that it comes with various powertrains and customers will be able to choose from 2.5 liter base unit to 2.0 liter turbocharged EcoBoost powered version. Base model with 2.5 liter inline four cylinder unit offers 175 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque and through a six speed automatic it promises 22/34 mpg in city/highway drive cycle.
2015 Ford Fusion Changes
Optional 1.6 liter EcoBoost inline four cylinder unit produces 178 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque and it transfers power through a six speed manual transmission. Promised fuel economy of 25/37 mpg is slightly better than a naturally aspirated 2.5 liter unit. New 1.5 liter turbo unit might come as a replacement for this 1.6 liter engine, it will have pretty much the same power output and it will be interesting to see fuel consumption results.
Drivers that need more power will be able to choose 2.0 liter inline four cylinder EcoBoost engine that we were able to see in many new Ford vehicles. This powerplant offers respectable 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque that are transferred through a six speed automatic transmission that also comes with paddle shifter and is possible to deliver 22/33 mpg in city/highway drive conditions. All wheel drive is also available in combination with this engine and in that case it will return 22/31 mpg.
In case of hybrid we have combination of 141 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque gasoline unit plus electric motor. This system is capable of delivering 47/47 mpg but that was under investigation and changes were made. For those that want more, Ford has to offer their plug-in version that is capable of delivering 100 MPGe. With larger battery and more powerful electric unit it is capable to accelerate and be driven at higher speeds using electric power only.
Starting price for a base model is $ 22.695 and the top offer comes under $ 40.000. Depending on the powertrain and equipment it offers price can vary significantly. When compared with other competitors it is similarly priced and vehicles like Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat Kia Optima, etc, will certainly be a great test to the 2015 Ford Fusion.
