After new Chevrolet Malibu was delivered in 2013 this car company had great expectations for it but its sale results were significantly lower than what the company expected. Because of this we have received few nice changes that made this car more competitive as a 2014th model, also the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu will remain almost identical with only few features added.
From the beginning Malibu had problems it was based on Epsilon II platform that made it shorter than competitors and provided far less leg room on the back seat. Its eAssist system was delivered to attract more buyers looking for improved fuel economy but did not manage to bring quite competitive figures. Later it was offered with 2.5 liter naturally aspirated and 2.0 turbocharged both four cylinder units.
2015 Chevrolet Malibu Specs
First four months in 2013 were not so bad with 70.913 units sold but compare that to Toyota Camry that was sold in 132.540 units it was obvious that it needed a refresh. Other competitors like Nissan Altima, Honda Accord and Ford Fusion also had significantly better sale results.
Direct injection 2.5 liter four cylinder naturally aspirated engine comes with Intake Valve Lift Control and produces 196 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. With new tech it did lose one hp and five lb-ft but it should offer higher level of refinment. According to EPA this unit will be capable of returning 23/35 mpg in city/highway which is one mpg better than 22/34 we had from previous model.
Drivers that are looking for even more power should consider the 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder unit that produces 259 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque which is about 35 lb-ft more than what previous version offered. This engine does offer far better performances and we know that it will affect fuel economy but it should not drop it significantly, we will have to wait for official EPA results to further examine it.
Review Of Chevrolet Malibu
While the 2014th model received changes on the suspension and chasis to further improve its driveability and driving experience the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu will come unchanged. We do expect to see few upgrades when it comes to features so the standard features list should be longer.
On the outside the 2015 Malibu still is fresh and attractive but fierce competition offers even more in this segment. We are sure that in the next few years new model will be offered or at least facelift that will allow Malibu to stay competitive and follow trends on the market.
When it comes to release date of the 2015 Malibu we are still waiting for exact date to be delivered but what we do know is that it should be offered during the summer of this year. Price Should remain on the same level like previous model or with a slight increase so we do expect to see price tag of about $ 23.000.
