If the electric cars are future than the 2014 Tesla Model S is certainly one of its announcers and best representatives. Most drivers do not like electric vehicles because of their sluggish performances and range anxiety and low range but with Model S things are a lot different.
Lets immediately talk about performances and prices of this vehicle. Base model is delivered with 60 kWh battery pack that is enough for 240 miles according to factory but it offers slightly less range. Price is set to 49.900 GBP after the government incentives and grants, for this money we are getting 5.9 seconds acceleration from 0 to 60 mph.
More powerful and version with more capacity is priced at 57.300 GBP and we are getting 357 bhp and acceleration to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Range is claimed to be 310 miles but it is slightly lower in real world drive conditions. For the ultimate performances there is a 85 kWh Performance Plus version that has the same range but 416 bhp motor that is supplied with high capacity drive inverter and is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. Price of this model is pretty high and you will need to spend 68.700 GBP which is a decent increase over the base version.
2014 Tesla Model S Specs
One of the problems with 2014 Tesla Model S could be its battery size and recharge time. From standard plug you will need up to 30 hours to recharge or 10 miles per hour while with the more powerful outlet it is reduced significantly and you can get 30 miles per hour easily. We also need to mention that the Supercharger stations allow fast recharge and that driver will be able to recharge about 80% of battery capacity in less than 30 minutes.
Performances are comparable with those that we are getting from BMW M5 but Model S is not a sports car. It offers great handling and everything but still it is better described as a luxury sedan. Regenerative braking is pretty strong and it takes little time to get used to it, we were getting pretty good stopping power with brake pedal.
Review Of 2014 Model S
Interior is a lot different from what we are used to see. There is no switchgear, only thing that we get on the central console is a huge touch screen. On this screen we will be getting all the information’s that we need about vehicle and systems in it. There is enough space inside and for all passengers but on the back there might be problems for tall persons because of lower head room.
We also need to add that the visibility to the rear is pretty bad because of the shape of the car but we are sure that most will easily adjust to this. Boot space is on the both back and front since we do not have engine and the powertrain is placed beneath the floor and closer to the back axle.
There is no doubt that the 2014 Tesla Model S offers a lot. Price might be high but it is comparable with luxury sedans and in many cases Model S offers a lot more. Performances and luxury is at the high level so there will be no mistakes there.
