Every year new GT-R offered changes and those were mainly related to delivering more power and improving already fantastic launch control. But the 2014 Nissan GT-R comes with slightly different setup and the main difference is that two models will be offered in this lineup.
We are getting standard 2014 Nissan GT-R and the Nismo version that is a more expensive but also improves few things compared to standard model. One of the biggest improvements that the Nismo model offers is the suspension related. Front spring rates and dampers that are electronically controlled are adjusted so that prevent wheels skipping ground and to improve level of grip and contact with the surface.
Lets start with engine and figures that this car offers. There is a quite capable 3.8 liter V6 unit that comes with two turbochargers and delivers 542 bhp at 6400 rpm and 465 lb-ft of torque from 3200 – 5800 rpm. Weight of the entire vehicle is 1740 kg and it is capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in about 2.7 seconds reaching max speed of 196 mph.
2014 Nissan GT-R Review
Steering on the standard model now offers little more assistance to the driver at lower speeds and makes it much easier to maneuver. Brakes now offer recalibrated setup that brings much linear and equal response when they are not pushed to the max. Interior is better protected from noise with better placing of the noise canceling materials while the Bose sound system comes with Active Noise Control to even further reduce noise in cabin.
These changes slightly tamed the brutality of the GT-R but rests assure that this vehicle still manages to excite with its fantastic performances. We still do have 0 to 60 mph below three seconds while the Nismo version has not been rated until now but we do expect it to be even slightly better. Throttle response is sharp and better than ever allowing you to cruise easily but also to accelerate insanely at the slightest movement.
Specs For 2014 GT-R
Even with the improvements to the noise reduction we are still getting a decent level of noise and sometimes it can be overwhelming. It does sound great but for longer journeys it can be tiring. Materials do interior are improved but still the competition offers a lot more and this is the segment where 2014 Nissan GT-R should be further improved.
There are many things that distinguish this model from other super or better say hyper cars. One of those that we need to commend is the all-wheel drive that is paired with launch control. This is one of the most brutal vehicles when it comes to this segment on the market. Not many vehicles can compete with it acceleration and the brutality of it. One of the rare that can compete with it is the Lamborghini Aventador that pushed everything to the next level.
There is no doubt that the 2014 Nissan GT-R will be sold thankfully to its performances and handling like previous year models. This is not going to happen thankfully to its great looks, comfort, luxury or fuel economy but you will be getting most bang per buck.
